Beginning Knitting … AGAIN!
Do you ever fall off the bandwagon when you are trying to learn a new skill or accomplish something? This is something I tend to do frequently in my life. Fall of the diet bandwagon, fall off the Dave Ramsey bandwagon, fall off the FlyLady bandwagon … and my latest failure … falling off the knitting bandwagon. Ok what is a $@%#@ bandwagon anyway? Basically it just represents failure to me.
Knitting is something I truly enjoy, and truly want to get better at. So why is it so hard to stick with it and finish ANY kind of project at all? Well I am bound and determined to try again. Dear blog, please help me to stay motivated as I share my learnings, my successes (and failures) with cyberspace. I am going to make an attempt at beginning knitting again, and I will try to forget about the fact that my last post wasn’t back in 2008.
Wish me luck fellow knitters! Let’s jump back ON this bandwagon together!

A good way to stay motivated at a new hobby is to keep it simple and easy to start over and over. Don’t beat yourself up about not knitting or not blogging, just start over. and over. and over. If you string a bunch of beginnings closer and closer together, pretty soon you have accomplishments, experiences, lessons, stories, and momentum.
No bandwagon required.

Me too….I have a project in the attic that I have thought fondly of time and time again over the years. Recently my daughter had a home school assignment over weaving..I bought her a loom(tiny potholder maker thing)…and she made tons and commented that she would like to make big things. Well, my project(from like 25 years ago) is still in the attic, but we have new yarn and needles and some crochet hooks…I don’t remember being this good…I guess something stuck. I have my 9 year old taking turns with me and we are both working on the same project…a baby afghan for her first girl.

I hope that you will continue to blog about being
a beginner at knitting. I have been trying to finish knitting projects for a year now. I have great desire, little free time, and no money for classes. You are lucky that you have an expert knitter in the family to guide you. So far I have bought numerous skeins of yarn. I have stashes all over the house. I have made many plans for projects. But have only completed a few scarfs or dishcloths.

I am with you! now that summer is coming along, I am re-commiting myself to knitting. Hiopefully with the longer daylight hours there will be more evening time for knitting on the patio. With a lovely drink….
